How to overthrow the Illuminati – new pamphlet

13 Aug

Despite it’s name this pamphlet rather than endorsing pernicious conspiracy theories is an excellent expose of how the “Illuminati theory” developed and exactly what is wrong with it and it puts forward communist ideas as an alternative to both the “official story” and these theories in a non patronising and non hysterical way.

It seems a bit at odds with what they say is the intention of their pamphlet to shoehorn in a load of embarassing studenty ‘left communism’ or whatever bizarre strand of the hobby they subscribe to. I’ve no problem with trying to address the spread of conspiracy theory, but this seems almost designed to alienate people (I mean ffs they even go on about alienation). My eyes just glaze over at that stuff. Right from the pointless and overused Marx quote at the start and then the completely uneccessary weirdo lefty jargon – who is that for? Is this really going to be the antidote? At least it’s mercifully mostly towards the end I suppose.

‘Communism is the movement of the working class and the oppressed,’

Still, nothing if not ambitious our authors:
‘We want to bring together talented thinkers and fighters who yearn for
liberation. We want to start a communist movement that eventually grows to
    every city in the U.S.’

I don’t think we should be having a go at them they’ve put together something that’s pretty good and i agree that there are problems with it, but i think it’s good that people are producing this stuff themselves rather thal leave it to who???

Did you see their further reading bit? Hilarious. They recommend I havea look at the Grundrisse and maybe a spot of Lukacs. I don’t know what planet these people are on.

“but i think it’s good that people are producing this stuff themselves rather thal leave it to who???”
Not sure what you mean by that. Who are these people who are producing it themselves? I haven’t a clue.

Conspiracy theory needs a political response. I don’t think theirs will be effective.

What is a “political response” Sam and can you think of something which would be more effective than this leaflet?

I actually think it is very good. I don’t wince at being recommended books by Marx either. I’m not sure why anyone would unless they were rabidly anti-communist. But there are those who tend to worry too much about how they will be perceived, are unsure whether longer words than those published in The Sun will be understood. And are poor little average people up to understanding anything but the most simplistic and straightforward.

Having looked at it again, I agree with Sam the Marx quote at the start is irrelevant and unnecessary.

Talking of conspiracy, here is a wonderful expose of Icke by Jesse Ventura – takes one to expose one ; ) (It’s near the end)
